Salary Calculator (CTC → In-Hand)

CTC on the offer letter is not what hits your bank. Find your real monthly in-hand salary.

What is Salary?

A salary calculator breaks down your CTC (cost to company) into its components, basic, HRA, PF, gratuity, variable, and subtracts tax and deductions to give your monthly take-home.

Formula Fixed CTC → 50% basic → 30% HRA → EPF (12% of basic, capped) → Gratuity (4.81% of basic) → Special allowance (balance). Monthly in-hand = (Fixed ÷ 12) − monthly tax − PF − professional tax.

Worked example

₹15L CTC with 10% variable: Fixed ₹13.5L. Monthly gross ₹1,12,500. After tax (~₹7,540), PF (₹1,800), PT (₹200): in-hand ≈ ₹1,02,960.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my in-hand less than 1/12th of CTC?

CTC includes employer contributions (EPF, gratuity), variable pay (paid annually), and does not net out your tax + PF deductions.

How do I increase in-hand without changing CTC?

Restructure allowances, HRA (if you pay rent), LTA, meal coupons, NPS employer contribution, each can cut taxable income.

Does the salary calculator work for freelancers?

No, this tool is for salaried income. Freelancers/professionals should use the Income Tax calculator with their net professional income.
