Planning Calculator
ROI Calculator
Absolute return and annualised return for any investment. The cleanest way to compare two opportunities.
What is ROI?
An ROI (Return on Investment) calculator gives you both absolute return (total gain as % of invested) and annualised return (CAGR-equivalent) for any investment.
Formula
Absolute ROI = (Final − Invested) / Invested × 100
Annualised ROI = (Final / Invested)1/years − 1
Annualised ROI = (Final / Invested)1/years − 1
Worked example
₹
₹1,00,000 → ₹1,80,000 in 5 years: absolute 80%, annualised 12.47% p.a.
Frequently asked questions
When do I use absolute vs annualised?
Absolute for short-term (< 1 year) comparisons. Annualised to compare investments of different durations on equal footing.
Is ROI the same as CAGR?
Annualised ROI over a stable period = CAGR. Different name, same math.
Does ROI account for tax?
No, it's pre-tax. Subtract tax on gains (LTCG/STCG) to get net return.
